Established in 1980 by husband and wife team Sue and Dave Millson, Millson Forestry Service has provided complete silvicultural and harvesting services to northeastern Ontario and beyond. Operations have evolved considerably over the years as required by markets and contracts but our experience has included all aspects of forestry. We believe that a well planned approach to the life cycle of a forest has no beginning and no end. All segments of the forest industry are equally important to properly maintain growing and evolving forests. Today, Millson Forestry Service is proudly run by Jenny Millson, the second generation of our family to lead the business. Under her leadership, we continue to build on our legacy of excellence and commitment to sustainability.

Our services have always revolved around enhancing forest regeneration. Whether it’s quality source known seed, hardy seedlings, optimized harvest utilization (for the Boreal forest) or maximized silvicultural coverage. We have always been advocates for planting more trees. In recent years we have seen an increased interest from private companies and individuals for our various services – which is very encouraging. It is the actions of individuals that will determine the environment we leave behind for future generations. As we continue to evolve our operations it will always be with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Present operations include:
- Extensive growing facilities produce high quality tree seedlings for reforestation, commercial nursery transplant stock, Christmas tree stock, rehabilitation projects, and research projects. Specialty stock has been exported to the United States since 1998.
- Warehouse cold storage facilities.
- Seed collection, extraction, cleaning and storage facilities provide complete seed services. Modern equipment ensures maximum yields and optimum quality of cleaned seeds. Testing and storage to international standards. We can handle all conifer and most deciduous species.
- Spent cones are of high quality due to the gentle nature of our extraction processes. Cones are sold across Canada and the United States.
- Activities reflecting a dedication to the environment and education.
- Round wood delivery, to the designated mills.
- Commercial firewood operation producing bagged birch firewood as well as custom orders.
Past operations have included:
- Site preparation for tree planting and seeding is carried out with specialized heavy equipment – disk trenchers, brackes, shear blades and angle blades.
- Large and small scale tree planting services are supported with experienced staff, a large inventory of planting tools and bags, on and off-road delivery vehicles.
- Forest harvest operations are carried out on a wide variety of site types (stump to dump including road building and water crossing installation).
- Harvest layout (boundary and roads)
- Forest stand maintenance – both mechanical and chemical.
